Adding pages and subsections

You can add a single page to a design in any family relationship to any page in the design--parent, child, previous sibling, or next sibling. You can also add sets of child pages to any page, in which case you have more control over the links between the pages and with the parent page.

If the existing page you link the new pages to is part of a section, the new pages ordinarily become part of that section. If you are adding a set of child pages to the page, however, you can make it the section page for a new section--that is, a subsection of the section it was part of. In that case, the page will be moved to its new section's target folder when the design is submitted.

Adding pages to a design affects its appearance as well as its navigational logic, in some cases causing other pages to change position and the lines connecting them to change direction. If you intend to use a design for presentation purposes, add all the pages and establish their hierarchical positions before you arrange them visually for maximum effect.

To add a single new page to a section:

1 Select a page in the section to add the page to.

2 Choose a new page, next page, previous page, or parent page from the toolbar or the Design menu. For information, see Adding empty pages and pending links to a hierarchy.

To add new pages or a subsection containing several new pages:

1 Select a page in the section to add the pages or subsection to.

2 Choose Design > New Pages.

3 Specify the number of pages to create, the filenames, and the types of links to generate. For information, see Adding empty pages and pending links to a hierarchy.

4 If you want the selected page and the child pages you are creating to be a new subsection, select Make Parent a Section.

5 Click Create. The child pages are created. If you selected Make Parent a Section, the page you selected is turned into a section page and identified as such by a boldface label.
